Headword Publishing Company was established in December 2013 by Manzar Khan, former Managing Director (1996 – 2012) of Oxford University Press.
The publishing programme commenced in 2014 and five major courses were published and launched in Headword’s maiden year (2015) in the marketplace, achieving recognition for Headword for quality, particularly in English Language Teaching (ELT) and other major subjects, for the CBSE, ICSE and other educational boards.
In 2016, Headword expanded its Grow with franchise by publishing new courses in Science, Information Technology, Environmental Studies and Social Studies.
In 2017 and 2018, with its penchant for publishing quality learning material, Headword further strengthened its ELT offerings by launching revised editions of its top sellers – New Tree Top, New Stepping Stone and the immensely popular New Grammar with a Smile. It also published Talkfest — a new course in listening and speaking for classes 6 to 10. Grow with Science 1 to 5 was revised comprehensively, based on user feedback and meeting requirements of the newly recommended learning outcomes. The revisions gave us the opportunity to incorporate a host of new features to engage and empower learners with 21st century skills. Some topics in the popular New Knowledge Alive series were also updated.
IT Bytes and Maths Zest have now been added to the product line of Grow with Information Technology and Maths Buzz, respectively – and reflect the current requirements of various school boards across the country.
Headword is in its fifth year now, and with the launch of the new CISCE curriculum, new products across subjects are being added to cater to this market – English Trail, Maths Orbit and Quest (EVS and Science). Enhancing the ever-growing list are other titles like Stairway, Maths Zest 6 – 8, New Grow with Science 6 – 8, New Grow with Information Technology and Tamarind Tree – an integrated semester series.
The development of resources for educators – both print and digital – continues to form an integral component of Headword’s publishing programme. All our courses have useful and relevant support material for teachers in the print format and digital support in the form of e-books and flip books with simple, user-friendly features to facilitate classroom teaching.
